An exhibition by Waltraud Hustermeier
Maître Corbeau in the Botanic Garden
When art meets nature, a very special magic is created. Visitors of the Botanic Garden can now delve into this magic with our exhibition ‘Fauna meets Flora’. With her impressive bronze sculptures, Münster artist Waltraud Hustermeier brings the animal kingdom to life in the midst of the plant world.
Across the entire garden grounds, over 50 detailed sculptures - from sinuous snakes to curious owls and cheeky ravens to playing wolf pups - are waiting to be discovered by children and adults alike. Each work of art has been carefully integrated into the appropriate geographical areas of the garden so that the animals and their surroundings complement each other in a natural way. It almost seems as if the sculptures could start moving at any moment.
Waltraud Hustermeier, who has been working as a freelance restorer and sculptor in her own workshop since 1995, has already worked with several botanical gardens. ‘Creating complex shapes with your own hands in one process is a wonderful activity,’ she says. In fact, her sculptures are so lively and detailed that they bring a touch of wilderness to the garden.
The exhibition is accessible during the regular opening hours of the Botanic Garden. Art and nature enthusiasts are cordially invited to embark on a special journey of discovery - through a world in which fauna and flora merge into a harmonious whole.
